The Q-Plex™ Hormone (6-plex) array combines one pregnancy hormone and various
pituitary hormones that have been shown to be involved in human disease
of various types. The pituitary gland is often called the "master"
gland of the endocrine system because it controls the function of the
other endocrine glands.
The pituitary gland can malfunction in several ways, usually as a result of developing a non-cancerous tumor. The tumor may overproduce one or more pituitary
hormones. Or the tumor may press on the normal pituitary cells, causing underproduction of one or more pituitary hormones. The tumor may also cause enlargement
of the pituitary gland that may or may not disturb hormone production. Sometimes there is overproduction of one hormone by a pituitary tumor and underproduction
of another at the same time due to pressure. Too little or too much pituitary hormone can result in a wide variety of symptoms that can be difficult to diagnose.
The Q-Plex™ Hormone (5-plex) array will allow researchers to simultaneously quantify pregnancy hormone and pituitary hormone levels in one simple test. Measuring hormone
levels conventionally can be very difficult because hormone levels can vary greatly throughout the day and hormone levels can change according to the bodies needs.
The Q-Plex™ Hormone array is a cost effective way to examine up to 80 different samples in one simple test. It allows researchers to look at a broad spectrum
of samples at once instead of examining one sample at a time.
The Q-Plex™ Hormone array is a fully quantitative ELISA based test where 6 distinct capture antibodies have been absorbed to each well of a 96-well plate in
a defined array. Using 30 µl of sample per well, up to 80 samples can be assayed for 6 hormones in less than 2.5 hours. The Quansys Hormone Array provides researchers
an easy to use and cost effective means of quantifying hormone levels and gaining a better understanding of the role hormones play in disease progression.
