Human FASL Analyte Overview
Also known as fas ligand, CD95L, CD178, Apo-1 ligand
Fas ligand (FASL, CD178) is a type-II transmembrane protein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family. FASL is known for binding to FAS (CD95), inducing apoptosis in the target cell. It is primarily epressed by activated T cells and natural killer cells as well as in immune-privileged sites such as the testis and eyes. FAS and FASL are thus involved in regulation of the immune system, T cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and the progression of cancer.
