Human NSE Analyte Overview
Also known as neuron-specific enolase, enolase 2, gamma enolase
Neuron-specific enolase (NSE) is an enolase type enzyme expressed primarily in developing neurons and glia. The primary function of NSE is to catalyze the generation of phosphoenolpyruvate from 2-phophoglycerate though an extracellular neurotrophic function for neurons has also been described.
