Mouse TARC Analyte Overview

Mouse TARC

Also known as CCL17, Thymus and Activation Regulated Chemokine, Chemokine Ligand 17

Thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC), also known as Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 17 (CCL17), is a small cytokine involved in immune function of the thymus. TARC regulates T cell development in the thymus and directs the activation and mobilization of mature T cells. High levels of TARC in the blood are common during an allergic reaction. The cytokine is expressed by neurons in the hippocampus, however its role in the brain is not fully understood. Abnormal TARC expression is associated with a variety of diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
