NHP MIF
Also known as macrophage migration inhibitory factor
Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a cytokine whose function was initially described to inhibit macrophage migration. However, it has since been described to promote migration and recruitment of leukocytes to sites of inflammation. Produced mainly by macrophages and B- and T-cells but can also be produced by numerous other cell types. It signals through CD74 and can promote cell survival by inhibiting activation induced apoptosis as well as counter-regulate glucocorticoid suppression of immune responses.
