Human PDGF AB/BB Analyte Overview

Human PDGF AB/BB

Also known as Platelet-derived growth factor AB/BB

Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) consists of three unique biomarkers, each a dimeric combination of different peptide chains. The peptide chains are designated A and B, and the combinations include AA, BB, and AB. PDGF can promote different activity based on the isoform and which receptor it binds to. Functions include promoting mitosis for connective tissue cells, acting as a chemoattractant for fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, neutrophils, and mononuclear cells, and stimulating granule release by neutrophils and mononuclear cells.
