SARS-CoV-2 is the coronavirus responsible for the global pandemic that began in 2019 (Covid-19). Coronaviruses usually consist of four structural proteins: spike protein, envelope protein, membrane protein, and nucleocapsid protein. Spike protein is a glycoprotein that functions to mediate membrane fusion and viral entry into the cell. Spike protein is homotrimeric, consisting of one subunit 1 and two parts subunit 2.
