Human ST2 Analyte Overview

Human ST2

Also known as IL-33 Receptor, IL-33R, IL-1R4

ST2, also known as the IL-33 receptor or IL-1R4 is a member of the IL-1 receptor family and is structurally similar to IL-1R1. Two forms of ST2 exist, a soluble form known as ST2 and a membrane anchored form known as ST2L. The membrane form is expressed by Th2 cells and bone marrow derived mast cells while the soluble form is produced by serum-stimulated fibroblasts. It has been shown to be important for Th2 type responses and the IL-33/ST2 axis has been reported to be significant in many diseases including asthma, allergies, and cardiac disease.
